From order to your door
Every phone that leaves our workshop has a numbered journey behind it. Not a factory configuration, but a personal setup. This is what happens between your order and your first unlock.
Six steps, by hand
No automated assembly line: a technician goes through every step in person.
Order & configuration
You choose your model in the order module. If you like, you tick app stores (F-Droid & Aurora Store, sandboxed Google Play) and apps that we install and test for you in advance (installation option, €29.99), such as your banking and ID apps or WhatsApp. Then you pay by iDEAL or card.
Hardware arrives
The Pixel arrives at our workshop in its sealed factory packaging. We check the phone thoroughly and prepare it for installation.
GrapheneOS flash
Stock Android is replaced by GrapheneOS, the thoroughly hardened operating system. The bootloader is locked again with the official GrapheneOS keys. From then on, your phone trusts only itself.
Hardening & configuration
A technician personally goes through every hardening step: sandbox settings, storage and network toggles, sensor permissions and per-profile encryption. On request we set up a duress PIN. You get a phone that is ready to use the first time you unlock it.
Personal profile
On request we set up a duress PIN and separate profiles, for example one for everyday use and one for travel. You get a short manual as a PDF (also available to download on the thank-you page) that explains how to switch between profiles.
Discreet delivery
Plain, sealed packaging without a logo. Insured shipping with tracking, signed for on delivery. Set up and shipped in 3 to 5 working days; delivery time depends on your country. Prefer to collect it yourself? In the Netherlands that is possible by appointment.
Will I lose Google services?
Not if you want to keep them. Sandboxed Google Play can be installed as an option. The services then run without system privileges. The choice is yours, not Google's.
Will my banking and government apps work?
Banking and ID apps: we tell you up front whether yours work. A growing number of apps support hardware attestation through GrapheneOS. For the exceptions we offer a second, isolated profile that works like an "ordinary phone", without affecting your main profile.
What if I lose my phone?
Everything on your phone is encrypted: your files, file names and other data. Without your unlock code they cannot be read. The key also depends on a separate security chip in the Pixel (the Titan M2), which limits the number of attempts and makes you wait longer and longer between them. So guessing or extracting the data does not pay off. A duress PIN can wipe the phone automatically when it is entered. We cannot recover your phone: privacy works both ways.
Can I change the configuration myself after delivery?
Completely. GrapheneOS is open source and fully in your hands. Our configuration is a starting point, not a cage. You can change everything, and we are here to guide you.
