Snowden Phone is a small workshop that builds the phone we would want to carry ourselves: a phone that serves you, not one that watches you. We are deliberately small-scale and configure every phone personally.
Our mission
Privacy as craftsmanship
We believe a phone should be a tool: something that serves you, not something that watches you. That sounds simple. In practice it means rethinking the entire system.
Our method is deliberately small: we do not build at scale. Every phone is personally configured by a technician who puts their name to the work. That suits us just fine.
We are not an anti-technology movement. We are pro-technology, but technology that does not charge interest on your existence.
What we believe
Six principles, not marketing bullet points
Ownership over access
You buy a phone, not a licence. Once you own it, it is yours: the hardware, the OS and your data.
Transparency as standard
GrapheneOS is open source and fully auditable. We have no secret sauce, because a secure phone cannot have any secret sauce.
Craftsmanship over scale
We make fewer phones than we could. That is a choice, not a limitation. Quality cannot be automated.
Not for everyone
We don't try to convince everyone. If you see privacy as a luxury, you are not our customer. If you see it as a foundation, you are.
Honest language
No disclaimers in 6pt type. No "military-grade" without a specification. We describe what we do, and we back it up.
Long-term support
As long as GrapheneOS supports your phone, we support you. No planned obsolescence. Full stop.
The team
People who put their name to the work
Founder · Security Lead
The person behind the concept. Background in security and privacy engineering. Personally signs off on every phone that leaves the workshop.
Workshop technician
The hands that configure your phone. Years of Android engineering experience and in-depth GrapheneOS knowledge. This is where the physical hardening is completed.
Orders and support
Your first point of contact. Background in digital rights. Translates technical concepts into clear choices, without jargon and without oversimplifying.
Where we stand
A real company, without a shop
Snowden Phone is registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 67353274 and based at Nieuwegracht 16-11 in Soest: a Dutch company with a real address. We have no shop: ordering, advice and support happen online, and your phone is shipped insured. In the Netherlands you can also collect your phone or drop something off in Hilversum, by appointment.
